Dr. Meurs follows seven years of classical medicine school following that he spends two years as a military doctor at the Military Hospital in Utrecht.
Immediately after he studies at the “Ooglijdersgasthuis” in Utrecht for the training of ophthalmologist.
As an ophthalmologist he starts working at the Maxima Medical Centre in Eindhoven.
Here he lays the foundation for a new standard in eye surgery, the phacoemulsification (cataract surgery).
From the beginning of his career as an ophthalmologist doctor Meurs deals with eyelid surgery with the use of the CO2 laser.
In 1991 he was one of the founders of the “Excimer Laser Center” in Nijmegen, where he executed the first excimer laser treatment in the Netherlands.
In the late nineties Dr. Meurs start as one of the first ophthalmologists in the Netherlands with the Artisan implant
In January 2001 he starts Laser Corrected Eyes, part of the current Oogziekenhuis Eindhoven.
Dr. Meurs performs in Oogziekenhuis all treatments using the latest equipment.
As of January 2011 Oogziekenhuis Eindhoven has its own high-tech operating room (class 1).
